When news came of the Pirate King's arrest, many around the world were shocked to the core, stunned silent by the incredible, almost impossible to believe news they had been given. Many around the world cheered, many were unwilling to believe that such a thing could happen. Many pirates met the news with mixed reactions - One in particular assaulting Marineford for the sake of killing Roger himself. But ultimately, many realized as the week following the news passed that Gold Roger was going to die in the year 1500 AOS in his hometown of Logue Town where, just as his story had begun, would so end. Or so many thought.
During the execution of the Pirate King, as many looked on, one person in the crowds could not contain his thoughts, shouting up to the Pirate, asking him where he had left his treasures. At that moment the Pirate King grinned, and spoke fine words that to this day continue to ring in the ears of every man who thinks of Piracy:
"My wealth and treasures? If you want it, I'll let you have it... Search for it! I left it all at that place!"
Following the death of Gold Roger, the late Pirate King, the news of Roger's great treasure known as One Piece spread through the world like wildfire. People across the world cheered and many took to the seas, a great passion in their hearts and dreams in their heads. Dreams of wealth, of fame, of power, just like the Pirate King. It was an age of dreams, an age of piracy that had just been born with the demise of its founder - The Great Age of Piracy. Now into the second year since, the year 1502 AOS, the seas have become a much different place, where many pirates have begun making names for themselves.
