His search to summon a Heroic Spirit had taken Karakkan to the lands of the Seelie. Convincing the ticket master in Asura to give him one here was frustrating, but very much worth it. For the entire day, he had simply wandered, taking in all the majesty and beauty of the new world around him. Lord, if you exist in this land, thank you for such a wonderful sight. He had found himself thinking over and over as he saw big, small, monstrous, and even human-like Fae scurry all about and around him. When night came however, Kan inevitably got himself lost. Unsure about where he was or who to trust, he had simply wandered for an hour or so. Until of course, he had walked in upon this place.
To try and describe a place such as this, Karakkan could never give it justice. It beat out every marvel that man had ever built, and any wonder that God had created. Now, he found himself standing amongst all these crystal-covered trees, staring. "By my Lord himself..." He muttered, eyes wide with surprise. He slowly walked up to one, feeling very much unworthy of being close to such a majestic object, looking at one of the crystals. It had a warm blue glow, like the color of the sea. He thought for a moment, rubbing his hands together slowly, a few tiny sparks flying from his palms as a result. He stopped for a moment, looking at the color the floating sparks made, then back at the little crystal.
A perfect match.
"Umm... Hello?" He called out through the trees, looking around at all the other little lanterns of light. Maybe once, in any five lifetimes, would a person ever have a chance like this. That lantern was something of beauty, and Kan felt... Connected to it, if only because it matched the color of his Aeromancy. But he would never dream of taking such an object without the permission of someone who knew the laws of the Fae. "Are there any Seelie out there? Is it alright if I take one of these... Uhh, lights, or would that be breaking some sort of taboo?" He knew a little about the creatures, enough that they had some sort of magic that allowed them to hide and play tricks on humans such as himself. Karakkan hoped that maybe someone with authority could help him. Otherwise, he'd feel like a guilty little kid standing out there all night long.
"Anybody?"

A long time had passed since Damaris last walked among les arbre's d'innocence. "Sois comme l'oiseau qui, en s'arrêtant dans sa fuite un certain temps sur les branches légères, les sent se dérober sous elle, et chante encore, sachant qu'elle a des ailes." The fae hummed a song as she walked, sometimes breaking into words under her breath but stopped as she drew near the populated area of the gardens. There was certainly no need for anyone else to see her act in such an undignified manner. The court would have quite the time if Damaris Beryl Ellorian was caught acting anything less than the part of the lovely, reclusive Duchess, the Seelie King's favored cousin. With such a facade, often "retreating" to her country estate for decades at a time, Damaris was freed from the restrictions of noble life, even slipping off to the mortal realm from time to time. But as she walked under the glowing lights, Damaris felt something amiss, a twinge of instinct that told her to hide. She did so with no concern; a wave of her hand and the fae appeared to be just another tree.
She watched as a man--a human? he had to be, because she knew almost every fae by sight, even if they didn't know her. A necessary precaution--approached. His praise of the gardens, drawn from his lips in the hailing of his human God, brought a smile to Damaris' face. His next question however, was forbidden. Releasing the glamour, Damaris stepped onto the path behind him. "I shouldn't do that if I were you," the Seelie murmured. "You might be picking my great-grandmother, and I should be obligated to punish you in the name of my family's honor. What brings you here, little human?"

He had been expecting some sort of forest creature, one that Karakkan could at least hear or see. He was not expecting some crazy ninja-Fae to come out of nowhere and speak behind him. He spun around at the voice, his eyes widening as the tree that had been right behind him was replaced with a woman. With a very dignified "Ack!", he stumbled backwards in surprise, caught his heel in a root, and promptly fell on his back, whacking his head against a nearby shrub (Assuming this place has shrubs anyways >>;.
Very graceful Karakkan... He thought to himself, quickly extracting his head from the plant and placing himself on one knee, bowing his head deeply, albeit with a twig or two stuck in the silver hair. "S-sorry Ma'am. I have never been to Seelie lands before, so I do not exactly know the customs." Something about this woman made Kan feel like a child. He figured most of the Fae would be old, and she had an air of power about her. "My name is Karakkan. Karakkan BoneShard. Former Aeromancer of the Holy Church." He looked up from his kneeling position, looking up at the woman although making sure not to make eye contact. "I am a member of the Holy Grail Wars and am looking for information on how to summon a Spirit, but then I lost my way." He was silent for a moment, then added, "And I'm sorry I almost picked your great-grandmother. It was not my intention to disturb her resting place."
Yeah, real smooth. “Sorry I almost defiled a family grave”. Right now he was just hoping that this mystery woman would not smite him on the spite or turn him into some horrific monster with her magic. ”May I ask for your name?”

JAZZY WEASLEY ?! @ CAUTION 2.0 ♥ She seemed to have surprised him. Damaris put a finger to her lips as she watched the man tumble backwards into the underbrush. He seemed to fine though, sitting up a moment later, albeit there were a few twigs in his hair. He knelt in front of her and Damaris watched him quizzically. "You've never been here before? Well you shouldn't worry about custom; most of the ones running around here are silly fae who can't think about tomorrow. Just don't pick the lights. They are the spirits of dead Seelie returned to us." Was he just going to stay down there..? "You can stand up, you know." He didn't seem to move however. Perhaps he was just very polite.
As the man continued in his introduction, Damaris strode over to the tree he had been examining, looking up at the soft lights. When he mentioned Aeromancers, her eyes flashed in a dangerous manner; perhaps it was best she was now facing away from him. "Aeromancy? I know an Aeromancer. He's quite interesting. But you're a Summoner, now? Well if you want to research techniques and spirits, Castle Blanc should have quite the library for that. And don't worry about my great-grandmother. She was a mean-spirited one."
Turning around, Damaris pressed her hands against her stomach, folding them together. His name was Karakkan? Odd to be sure, but he was a mortal. They seemed to enjoy unconventional name-schemes. Perhaps it was because they didn't live as long, and needed a way to stand out. "I am the Duchess Ellorian, but you may call me Beryl, if you wish." She extended her arm towards him. "Would you escort me to the castle?"

"No, I have never had the pleasure of being here. My work with the Holy Church kept me mostly on Earth." So he wasn't going to be turned into a smear on the floor! Kan let a small smile flicker across his face as he was told that he could stand, although he stayed bowed. he had a feeling that she was powerful enough to deserve it. "Thank you ma'am." He replied as he let his body relax and turned his attention towards his hair. Yeesh, twigs everywhere. One hand went up to pull them out, wincing as he did so. Why was it that when something got stuck on you, it had to make itself almost impossible to get out? As she turned and spoke about Aeromancers, he nodded his head, despite her unable to see the movement.
"Yes. Well, at least that is where I fall. I could never fly very well, and I can barely make a breeze lighter. My focus is lightning." As the Fae turned around, Karakkan finished picking the twigs from his hair, and produced the hand. The tips of his fingers glowed a light blue, and then small arcs of electricity darted between them, making a quick, weaving pattern above the palm of his hand. "As for being a Summoner, all I have is a Phamtasm, otherwise I am not really much of one." He didn't bother to say anything about the castle comment, he would have put money on being picked out. He was just a mortal, and how was he supposed to back up being a Summoner? Show them his Spirit?
Of course, these thoughts and all others went straight out the window when he heard her name. Duchess? That means royalty! I'm in the presence of royalty! He moved from his kneeling position quickly, standing straight and staring for a few moments in simple awe. Karakkan then caught himself, shaking his head and coughing into a closed hand, then moving into a deep bow. He might have tripped himself into a bush and almost 'killed' royalty in a sense, but he would show this woman proper respect, damn the nervousness. "Forgive my ignorance M'lady Beryl. I would be honored to escort you." He let his smile go wider, and his eyes were lit up with excitement as what was happening sunk in. He was going to go into the castle! He extended his arm to Damaris, offering his hand. "I did not know that Humans were allowed into Castle Blanc. You must have hundreds of books on Spirits in there..."
Karakkan wished he could do backflips right now, so he could do them all over the place.

JAZZY WEASLEY ?! @ CAUTION 2.0 ♥ He was from the Holy Church? Damaris had studied the organization on her travels, but never really gotten involved with them. Personally, she didn't care for any sort of God or religion. If there was one out there, she never planned on meeting him. If there wasn't, then there was no great loss to herself in the end. And as long as the Church had no quarrel with the Seelie Court, she wasn't bothered by them. Indeed, Damaris was no friend to vampires. If she didn't hold them quite in pure contempt, she also certainly wasn't going to be advocating for their fair treatment by the Church. The creatures struck her too much as some twisted joke on the Fae.
Facing towards him again, Damaris smiled slightly as the would-be Summoner caused electricity to dance between his fingers. “The Aeromancer I know is more suited to flying and controlling the wind. I'll admit that I don't know much about that paticular domain of magic. My own talents don't lie there.” Karakkan continued speaking about Summoners and Phantasms, but Damaris really had no care for the squabbles of the Holy Grail War. That was the business of mortals; four such wars had passed during her lifetime, and she had never been affected by any of them. This man had been polite, respectful and properly impressed by les arbres d'innocence. That was enough for her.
Damaris' attention was stolen once more by Karakkan though as the man thundererd to his feet, folding himself into a bow. She hadn't realized her title would affect him so. Her power among the Seelie Nobles was not inconsiderable, but Damaris had so retreated from court life and bickering that she rarely revealed her identity. And lately when she had told someone who she was, they were markedly unimpressed, the fae thought ruefully. Changing times, she supposed. Nowadays mortals didn't have kings and queens anymore. Taking Karakkan's arm, she strode with him up the path, her head slightly inclined towards him.
“I don't think there is a rule against humans being allowed in Castle Blanc, per say, but if anyone asks there really shouldn't be a problem as long as you stick close by me. May I ask, if you aren't offended by this question, why you are just now summoning your Spirit? I was sure that the current war had already started, though I'll be the first to admit I'm not exactly up to date on human affairs.”

”I was not able to study for long, so I was only able to focus on mastering the Lightning aspect. I can only really control the wind during a thunderstorm, where there is plenty of lightning in the clouds.” He admitted, using his free hand to scratch the back of his head a bit feebly. It wasn’t exactly a proud point in his life, having only mastered one part of his discipline. Kan would have much preferred to stay and finish, but certain aspects of life had to come first over schooling.
As the Fae took his arm and explained about the castle, he let out a relieved sigh. So it looked it he would live for at least another day, and he would be able to get at the books and tomes we would need. Perhaps there would be some books on Aeromancy also. Any new ways to use and apply the magic, Kan would eat up like a starving man eats dinner.
When she asked about the war, Kan nodded his head. Reaching for his free hand, he un-buttoned the top part of his suit, sliding the left side of the clothing over his shoulder. Around the edges of the shown skin, there was the start of multiple scars, hinting to many, many more under the suit he wore. But what he showed was un-touched, save for the tattoo of a black Celtic cross. Three red lines pierced it, one on each arm of the cross, and one in the middle. ”No, it’s fine M’lady. The war has already started, yes. I am… Late, I guess you could say. I gained my Phantasm and my Command Spells the same as every other, but I do not have the knowledge to summon a Spirit.” He slid the shoulder back, on, buttoning back up. He gestured around at the area. ”That is the reason I am here, actually. I came here in hopes to find that knowledge. Before you came, I had thought that the journey was not worth it.”
He smiled, bowing his head in Damaris' direction. He owed the Duchess big-time. Perhaps he would think of a proper way to repay her in the castle, amongst all those wonderful books of knowledge.

Albeit he's probably the best wind mage alive," she admitted grudgingly. He had to be, to be the Eternal of Winds and Sky, right? "But enough about him. Tell me, did you attend the University of Magic, or whatever they call that place these days? I've always been intrigued about how humans learn about and develop their magic. We're born with the magic, you see, and no one really has to struggle with it."
They strode up the path in silence for a few more moments before the Summoner uncovered his skin. Damaris was fascinated more with the numerous scars crisscrossing all she could see of his skin; those brought several questions to the tip of her tongue, but she stilled them. To interrogate him so would be impolite. She could wait until later, when he was better situated. She didn't want to put the man on edge. "Well as long as you are here, it won't matter that you don't have a Spirit. Summoners and Spirits are free to visit, of course, but having battles here would be quite messy. I wouldn't settle for it." She waited as he adjusted his clothes. "The journey is always worth it. Even if you hadn't found me, you would have seen les arbre d'innocence. There are few living mortals today who can claim that."
As they drew even with the gleaming castle, Damaris pulled Karakkan to the side, leading him in a side entrance. The brilliant hallway that opened up before them was purest white, the walls edged with graceful designs and flights of fancy. "The library should be the second door on the right, I believe?" she said.

”Best alive? I’ll believe it when he can teach me to move more than a stiff breeze.” Kan spoke, chuckling to himself. He hadn’t been exactly the perfect student in his time of learning. There was usually a bit of damage here or there by the time he left his classes. When asked about the Academy, he let out a fond sigh, tilting his head up somewhat. ”It was hard. They worked you like no end, and tried to bring you up to be a respectful and serious person. They got one out of two right for me.” He had to admit, they had damn good fashion sense. ”It was a huge castle, split up into sections for each discipline. Then you got the ones like me, who focused exclusively on one area. I may not have been blessed with the knowledge of all Aeromancy, but damned if you can find someone who can shoot lightning farther, faster, stronger, or longer than me.”
He mostly ignored the Duchess’ probing eyes as she looked at his Command Marks. Kan knew she wasn’t paying them much attention, instead looking at the scars. Everyone always did. He sighed inwardly, tilting his head back down. He wondered how long it would take the Seelie to ask him about them. Probably a few hours, max. They seemed to have more patience than mortal men and women. But they always did ask. ”You will not need to worry about me causing any fights. I prefer to save lives over killing them.”
As they came up to the castle, Kan’s eyes widened, and his mouth curved in a grin. ”Wow… It’s very…. White.” He commented, chuckling. It was an amazing structure, even dwarfing that of the Academy, but after being around the Arbres, it could not really compare. As she lead him to a side-entrance, his grin only widened as he saw the inside. ”Phew... This is stunning… Magic?” He asked, his eyes locking in on the door Damaris pointed out to him. He licked his lips, like a man about to eat a delicious meal would. ”Thank you, I can not wait to get in there and see all the knowledge.” Forcing himself to look away from the door, he turned his head towards the Duchess. ”I hate to ask this of you M’lady Beryl, but are there any spaces that I could use as a place to rest and summon? If your library is as amazing as the rest of your realm, I might be in there for a while.” Although it was a genuine question and he did feel guilty about having to ask it, there were fires lit up in his eyes, knowing that the solution to all his current problems were just two doors down on the right.

It would be nice to see that infuriating Eternal brought down a peg or five. "I think you would get along rather well." As he continued on with his talk, describing the Academy, Damaris let her mind wander. She felt a pang of guilt at doing so; she had asked him what the magical university was like, after all, he was only answering her own question, but squashed the feeling quickly. A split castle...just like the fae. The Unseelie and the Seelie (no longer at war, but not friends either, each kingdom pushing at each other, feeling for weakness) and the Eternals sitting above all, twisting reality for their own amusement. How her great race had fallen.
As they entered Castle Blanc, Damaris giggled (in a very dignified way, of course, she thought with slight frustration. It was dignified giggling) at his reaction. His awe radiated off of him, and the Duchess was proud. Proud of Castle Blanc, and the Seelie, and the long history of the Fae stretching ever backwards through the mists of time. Shaking off her previous gloomy thoughts, she spoke aloud to answer Karrakkan's question about a place to stay. "If you wish, you can visit my estate after conducting your research. My duchy is large enough that you can summon any spirit you want and not disturb anyone." With that offer hanging in the air, Damaris glided to the library door, placing her hand on the doorknob.
Pausing a moment, she threw a smile over her shoulder before pulling open the door. Beyond the door frame rose bookshelf after bookshelf, endless rows that stretched up to the high ceiling. Plush red carpet covered the floor, and on the very far side of the room, massive windows threw natural sunlight into the room. Comfortable chairs were grouped at the end of each row, so that upon finding the correct book, one could simply sink into rest and begin to read. Stepping inside, Damaris turned to face Karakkan, a lilt in her voice: "Welcome to the library of Castle Blanc."
